Girl Scouts Visit Hospital to See Painted Healing Ceiling Tiles

San Antonio Girl Scout Troop 1335 will visit North Central Baptist Hospital Wednesday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. to see the “Healing Ceiling” tiles they painted, now that they are installed in pediatric, pediatric intensive care and pediatric emergency rooms.

The girls created and donated the tiles in memory of the brother of one troop member who was hospitalized for the first year of his life. His mother painted a butterfly and then a Superman symbol on the tile above his bed in his room so that he would have something beautiful to look at while in the hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2007.

Wednesday the girls will get to see how their gift is brightening the rooms and bringing joy to other children at North Central Baptist. The last tile will be put in place during the troop’s visit and the girls will tour pediatric units throughout the hospital where their tiles are installed. The Healing Ceiling Tiles are part of Troop 1335’s Silver Award project, which has a goal to help improve local communities.
